Life Membership Payout Recoupment
Per
Resolution No. 1 adopted at the August 2025 VFW Auxiliary National
Convention, Auxiliaries and Departments are required to review their
membership rosters at least annually and ensure that all deceased members
are entered as deceased in MALTA or by other official means.
Should
the National Organization identify a deceased life member who has been
deceased over three (3) years, the VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters
may recoup any life payouts received for that member in excess of those
three (3) years. Recoupment may occur by deduction from a later
"life payout" or other payment to that Auxiliary or Department.
The VFW Auxiliary National Headquarters will notify the affected
Auxiliary or Department no less than thirty (30) days prior to that
recoupment and allow the Auxiliary or Department opportunity to prove
that the member is either not deceased or provide justification as to why
recoupment should not occur.
A
tool to assist an officer in researching their older life members to
ensure they are indeed still living is in the "Duties” tab in MALTA, in
the "Manage Members Section” is the link "View Members.” In this
area on the right-hand side in the "Search for a list of Members” area, a
search may be conducted for Life Members. The results that are rendered
may be sorted by any of the columns by clicking on the column header such
as "Birthdate.” This will provide a listing of life members by their
date of birth. This will assist in reviewing the membership roster.

HOSPITAL HOLIDAY GATHERINGS
December 6th (Saturday)- Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, 12505 40th St, Bellevue NE
December 7th (Sunday) - Veterans Hospital, 4101 Woolworth Ave, Omaha NE
OTHER EVENTS
December 13th - VFW Auxiliary 1347 invites you to take part in a Wreaths Across America ceremony. 11:00 am. It will be held at the new Nebraska Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located on Capital Avenue (west of the club and the old veteran's home). Ceremony to be held in the shelter with the laying of the wreaths to follow. Participants will walk from the shelter to the historical part of the cemetery. A truck with the wreaths will be parked on the north side. Participants will pick up two wreaths from the truck, place them on grave sites, then return to the truck and get two more. This will continue until all wreaths have been laid. Once finished all are invited to the club for lunch, then over to the hospital.
NOTE: There is no parking on the grass or on Capital Avenue. Participants can park on the road that goes through the cemetery.
